DOT Compliance Workshop

Don't get this training from someone who lacks the knowledge.  Get it from the experts!
Our instructor has nearly 20 years experience in the transportation safety industry, is a CDS-Certified Director of Safety, has a PhD in Safety Engineering, and two other degrees in safety.  He has also acted as a safety consultant to hundreds of Motor Carriers over the past two decades.
Let him help you.
Simply put, the DOT Compliance Workshop is designed by Vogel Safety & Risk, Inc. to offer necessary information to every individual involved in the operation of a commercial motor vehicle (10,001 pounds or greater, by definition), regardless of the industry you are in.  The information presented is crucial to every function of the operation.  Your company will benefit from this program and learn exactly what the DOT expects of you,  your drivers, and management.
This two-day workshop is comprised of three separate seminars: DOT Compliance, including instruction on the new CSA 2010, on the first day, and Hours of Service & Drivers' Daily Logs, and Supervisors' Drug & Alcohol Training on the second day.

Day 1: DOT Compliance (approximately 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m.)
Course facilitator will act as both Instructor and Safety Consultant as he takes you through the expectations of the DOT and what occurs during a DOT Compliance Review (audit).  Students are encouraged to participate as the facilitator walks them through each factor of an audit, covering the pertinent regulations governing the operations of commercial vehicles.  Topics discussed during the first day:

  • Insurance Requirements
  • Insurance Documentation
  • Vehicle Accident Register
  • Vehicle Marking
  • Drug & Alcohol Testing Requirements
  • Driver Qualification Files
  • Driver Hiring Procedures
  • Hours of Service Rules
  • Drivers' Log Book Audits
  • Vehicle Maintenance
  • Vehicle Iinspections
  • DOT Audit Procedures

Day 2: Hours of Service & Drivers' Daily Logs (approximately 8:00a.m.-11:30a.m.)
Supervisors' Drug & Alcohol Training (approximately 12:30p.m.-3:30p.m.)

The second day is broken into two sessions.  The morning session is devoted to discussion regarding the Hours of Service rules and Drivers' Daily Logs.  Course facilitator will take the class through the new regulations governing commercial vehicles, and explain potential exemptions.  Log book work projects will also be built into the course.

The afternoon session centers around Supervisors' Drug & Alcohol testing.  Though this training is beneficial to everyone in the company, it is mandatory for anyone who supervises drivers.  Training covers the regulations and specific required procedures for testing.  It also provides information on the signs and symptoms of drug/alcohol abuse, as well as guidelines for reasonable suspicion.

Upon successful completion of the two-day course, each participant will receive two certificates of training:

  • DOT Compliance Workshop
  • Supervisors' Drug & Alcohol Training
