Hours of Services Rules: Bus Drivers

I've been asked a lot of questions pertaining to the Hours of Service rules, and how they may differ between bus driver and drivers of other commercial motor vehicles.  Please allow me to share with you the main differences.

Essentially, most motor carriers in many different industries have moved on to the new rule as follows:

10 Hour Consecutive Off Duty Rule
11 Hour Driving Limit Rule
14 Hour Consecutive On-Duty Rule
60/70 Hour Rule
New Split Sleeper Berth Rule - 8 Hour + 2 Hour
And the New 34 Hour Restart, Some have a 24 Hour Restart

HOWEVER......... These fairly new rules do not apply to those driver who operate passenger vehicles which transport more than 15 passengers.  The OLD RULES still apply, but with modification, such as the word "Consecutive".

8 Hour Consecutive Off Duty Rule
10 Hour Driving Limit Rule
15 Hour Consecutive On-Duty Rule
60/70 Hour Rule
No Sleeper Berth Usually on Passenger Vehicles
No Restart Rule Available
