The
Strategic Preparation course is a one-day seminar (approximately 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m.) created by Vogel Safety & Risk, Inc. to take the participants to the next level of compliance. It is designed to enable participants to apply what they have learned in the previous course. While there will be some similarities between this course and its prerequisite (
DOT Compliance Workshop), this course will pick up where Compliance left off, digging deeper into programs, processes, and files.
The objective of
Strategic Preparation is twofold:
- Participants will understand a DOT audit and how to prepare for it.
- Participants will maintain an actual set of audit-ready files to serve as a template for their own company.
Course facilitator will take the class through a mock DOT audit one step at a time, just as a DOT Compliance Officer would during an actual audit. Participants are required to bring a sample of each of the following files, necessary for compliance:
- Insurance documents
- Photograph of truck markings
- Vehicle accident register
- Vehicle file
- Written drug & alcohol testing policies
- Annual (or quarterly) summary for random drug & alcohol testing
- Written safety policies and procedures manual
- Driver qualification file
- Log book for same driver
- Vehicle inspection book for same driver
- Training file for same driver
During the course, the class is asked to review specific files (or parts of files) to determine the level of compliance. The student has the opportunity to either note or amend necessary changes. The facilitator will then review all files brought by participants, either individually, or as a group.
At the time of completion, participants will possess, in hand, a perfect file sample, and will receive a certificate of training for the
Strategic Preparation for a DOT Audit.
